Returning the pot

Well apparently the feds do have to legally and lawfully return pot to you if under your state laws you're allowed to have it. Even if it has been years. I'ld really hate to have to smoke that stuff but i guess it is the principle of the matter.

Federal Court Rules Pot To Be Returned To Driver

Eight grams of medical marijuana seized from a Garden Grove man during a traffic stop must be returned to him, according to an appeals court ruling directing local law enforcement to uphold state, not federal law.

A three-justice panel of the 4th District Court of Appeal weighed in on the issue in a published decision that sets precedent for future cases on similar issues.

The marijuana, which belonged to Felix Kha, 22, was confiscated during a traffic stop on June 10, 2005.

Kha pleaded guilty to a traffic violation. The charge of possessing marijuana while driving was dropped after he produced a doctor's note approving Kha's use that he said was for severe back pain.

Despite objections by the prosecution, the judge ordered Kha's marijuana returned, according to the ruling.

A night with friends

So yes. This occurred while drinking some Beer. Oberon to be exact. We were playing some Euchre when my friend Angie there decided to tell us about this guy named Davey that she had been talking to. This of course sparks the singing of Davey Crockett and me remembering that i have this get up ran into the basement and dug it out of my kids dress up clothes. :-) It was a fun night. I miss my friends dearly. I can't wait till they're back for Yule and possibly new years.

Hope you all are fortunate to have nights like this. The morning after is definitely worth it.

RIP: Madeleine L’Engle

She was one of my all time favorite authors. She's the author that got me hooked onto the sci-fi genre. :-( I'm going to miss the hope that she'd write more books.

I snipped this from Boing Boing Blog.

Snip from NYT obituary (urls added):
Madeleine L’Engle, who in writing more than 60 books, including childhood fables, religious meditations and science fiction, weaved emotional tapestries transcending genre and generation, died Thursday in Connecticut. She was 88.

Her death, of natural causes, was announced today by her publisher, Farrar, Straus and Giroux.

Ms. L’Engle (pronounced LENG-el) was best known for her children’s classic, “A Wrinkle in Time,” which won the John Newbery Award as the best children’s book of 1963. By 2004, it had sold more than 6 million copies, was in its 67th printing and was still selling 15,000 copies a year.

Here's a tribute to her. The explanation of a Tesseract.

Time to Become Pre-Emptive Peacemakers

On this tragic anniversary, I'd like to remind us all that whether we say God or Goddess, him or her, however we depict the divine, the ultimate essence is love.

Pagans believe that we are each an embodiment of the Goddess. Other religions speak of the divine spark in each human being, or the incarnation of God on earth. They are all telling us to treat each person as if she or he might be God walking around, perhaps begging for a meal or a kind word, perhaps hitching a ride as Pele the volcano Goddess is said to do in Hawaii.

If we treat each human being as if she or he might be Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, or Gaia herself, if we cherish that spark of creativity and compassion in all, then we might create a world in which we see our differences as facets of the jewel of truth—something to delight in and cherish, not a reason to divide ourselves and destroy. If we strive for a world based on justice for all—not just those we agree with, but all—we will diminish the causes for hate and despair that lead to acts of violence.

And I'd like to remind all of us, here in the U.S., that if we respond to violence with violence, if we use our own grief and wounds and fear as an excuse to unleash the horrors of war on others, if we are complacent about sacrificing the innocent civilians of other nations in payment for our own, then we have abandoned the moral high ground. If we let fear open our ears to lies, if we stop questioning and seeking truth and demanding accountability from those in power, we contribute to horrific acts of death and destruction. Retaliation and revenge have a grim logic of their own, that can never be satisfied by more of the same, and can never bring us true security.

If we want peace and security, we must address the causes of war. If we want a world based on spiritual connection and humanitarian values, we must become pre-emptive peacemakers. The Shambala warriors of Tibet are said to have two great weapons with which to dismantle the weapons of destruction: insight and compassion. Let us all wield those weapons. The earth is crying out for us all to use all our powers of mind and heart for her and our healing. Let us listen to that call.

Bollocks

Yes, that's right. Bollocks. I have a couple of ideas running through my head wanting to break out on to the lanes of the information super highway, but unfortuently, I have niether the time nor the energy to delve into them.

The kids have come down with something in the middle of summer and I think i'm getting it too. I have a wedding reception to go too tomarrow for a cousin that i haven't seen in probably 10 years. School is right around the corner for the kids and I and i have nothing ready.

But I really want to tell you all about the witnessing Baptists that showed up on my door step yesterday at 8 o'clock in the evening as i'm trying to nap away a splitting head ache and make sure the kids are heading to bed. I also have a cool story running through my head that i want to write up.

So again. Bollocks. I really need to carry a notebook with me and write in it when ever i get the urge. It's just hard to do when running around and scrubs and chasing kids all the time. I just feel like i can't sit down and take a breather.

I guess August is always hard for me. It's a change of pace month. Settling down from the fun you had all summer and getting ready for the work of the coming fall.

So I really think I'm going to go and have a beer, relax, look at the stars, and just breathe for a few moments. Then maybe i'll whip out the notebook and get the thoughts stuck in my head loose and onto the paper to share with you all another day.

Theory of Red Lights

So I read the Parable of the Gong on the blog Hoopla. The blog is written by the Baron Von Hoopla who is of the Discordian persuasion. Follows is a cut of the larger parable:

“Bureaucracy,” said Nopants, “is waiting for a red traffic light in the middle of the night when no one is coming.”

Across space and time, a gong sounded.

Golden Rod left the basement and returned to the real world, thoroughly confused. As he drove home, he ran five red lights. His mirth rose with each light. By the end of the voyage he was giggling like a ninny at his new found freedom.

Years went by and Golden Rod continued drive towards Aftermath. He rolled stop signs, blew through red lights, and opened his moon roof when there was danger of falling rocks.

“Sweet Merciful Ass!” cried out Bung-Fu the Fool as he clawed at the dashboard. “You’re gonna get us both killed!”

“I am self-emancipated from these mundane traffic laws,” cackled Golden Rod. “I am a harbinger of Aftermath!”

“Do you always drive like this?” said Bung-Fu as he buckled his seat belt.

Golden Rod nodded. "Always."

Meanwhile, the monk Nopants was wheeling his gong across the street towards his basement. He patiently waited for the light to turn red, then pushed the ponderous percussive instrument upon the pavement.

The collision made the exact sound of enlightenment.

After reading this it made me think of all the rules we follow that may serve a purpose but can be broken with out ill effect. I'm guilty of sitting at a red light in the middle of the night with no cars around. Would anything really have happened if I had ran it? What about leaving the tags on pillows and mattresses? And what about having to pour Beer that in a can with those nitrogen capsules into a glass? What would happen if i just drank it out of the can?

Hmmm, speaking of beer. Tis my last day of vacation. I think I should go have one. I'll leave you all to your own thoughts on what rules do we blindly follow and why exactly do we follow them?

What is Dj doing today.

Well for one. I do believe I'm going to drink some beer. This is due to the fact I'm going to the Detroit Tigers game tonight. Yay me.

The company I work for gets season tickets to the Tigers every year and gives them out. So if you watch the Tigers tonight I'll be sitting behind the first base line in row 16 with my mom, sister, and her husband. I'm excited and I don't even really like baseball. There is nothing like being there though. It just makes it exciting. I was kinda foolish though. I should have gotten a Friday or Saturday night game. There's fire works after those games. Ah well though. It should be fun.

I'm not going to be available the next couple days. The family and I are heading to Michigan's Adventure Wednesday. We're probably leaving tomorrow night and grabbing a hotel room so that we can get there early in the morning. :-) Yes this is my vacation week.

So what else am I doing today, other than blogging to all of you? Well cleaning of course. Just got done scrubbing the kitchen floors. Now I'm off to finish the laundry, re-organize my desk because we just moved it into the bedroom, and finish the dishes. I also have to start getting things packed.

Later I'm thinking of finding a writing prompt to change things up a little bit. I'm sure people are getting bored just reading the same ole stuff of my life.

any who. hope you all are having a wonderful day.

Another Blog?

Yes, I'm setting up home in a nother sphere of the internet.

Why, might you ask?

Well because of the simple fact that i can. That and I've grown tired of Myspace. I also have a lot of applications with Google so I figure I might as well sign another piece of my life to them.

Now, you might also ask who Sucellus is. Well he's the celtic god associated with the very important things like forests, agriculture, and my favorite Beer.

So please would you all raise a glass of ale and welcome me to my newest home.
